Privacy

Privacy policy.

Plain version: this website collects very little, I don't sell anything about you, and nothing you'd tell me in therapy ever touches this site. The longer version is below.

Who this covers

This policy covers the website at gabrielgarciamft.com, operated by Anarchotaoist Family Therapy (Gabriel Garcia, LMFT #99274) in Los Angeles, California. It covers visitors to the site. It does not cover clinical records, which are governed separately by HIPAA and California law and described in the Notice of Privacy Practices you receive when you begin care.

Email, phone, and text

If you call, text, or email me, I keep what you send only as long as I need it to respond and to meet my professional recordkeeping obligations. Standard email and text messaging are not secure and are not appropriate for detailed clinical information. Please keep first contact brief; we can move to a secure channel once we're working together.

Your rights in California

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, California residents can ask what personal information a business has collected, ask to have it deleted, ask to have it corrected, and not be treated differently for asking. Given how little this site collects, the answer to most of these will be short. To make a request, call 323.334.0464 or reach me through the contact details on the site. I'll respond within 45 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.

What the site collects

Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and move through it, which pages get read, and which don't. This includes your approximate location (city level), device and browser type, referring site, and the pages you visit. It's collected in aggregate. I use it to decide what to write and what to fix, not to identify individuals.

Cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish one visit from another. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. Most browsers also offer a "Do Not Track" setting; this site does not currently respond to those signals, which I'm disclosing because California law asks me to.

Nothing else. There is no contact form on this site, no newsletter signup collecting your address here, no account to create, and no payment taken through this site.

What I don't do

I do not sell your personal information. I do not share it with advertisers. I do not run advertising pixels or retargeting on this site. I have never disclosed personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, which under California law is the same as not selling it.

Where you leave this site

Several links send you elsewhere, and those services have their own privacy practices, not mine:

  • Scheduling. The "Book Online" links go to Google Calendar Appointment Scheduling. What you enter there is handled by Google.
  • Substack. The journal newsletter is hosted by Substack, and subscribing is governed by Substack's policy.
  • Directories and social. Instagram, Psychology Today, TherapyDen, and Choosing Therapy each maintain their own policies.
